About

Kathryn Briggs has been making music for most of her life. It’s how she moves and breathes. Teaching and writing music are her greatest joys.

In October 2000, Kathryn released her debut CD entitled “Small Awakenings”, produced by Canadian folk treasure, Ian Tamblyn….listeners find themselves transported to a space of peace and healing.

“…a brilliant pianist and composer, writing with clarity, depth and sensitivity, moving pieces that never fail to bring images to mind and emotions into play.”
- David Francey (award-winning singer/songwriter)

“Kathryn Briggs’ piano compositions are enthralling. She has a way with chordal structures and modulations that is surprising yet never shocking, unusual yet never discordant.”
-Patricia Anne (review “New Creation” Concert Series)

“…a highly talented individual with a gift for communicating her passion for music to her listeners. She delivers her exquisite compositions with artistry, emotion and grace…”
-Chris White (Former Artistic Director, Ottawa Folk Festival)

“The relationship between audience and player deepened with each song as Terry and Kathryn told with humour and with heart, the stories that inspired the writing of them. I came in that night knowing absolutely nothing about them and I left feeling like my circle of friends had expanded by two. Terry & Kathryn are deep thinkers who turn the attention of their thoughts to things that matter in the world. Somewhere along the line those perspectives are transformed into songs that explore the emotional spectrum from the fun and light hearted to the touching and deeply personal.”
- Rhea March (Edmonton Performance Review)
